Tagaytay Medical Center (TMC) is a private, secondary level hospital located at the scenic City of Tagaytay. It has a 90-bed capacity which caters to the health and wellness needs of local and foreign patients of the city and its nearby areas. With its friendly and relaxing environment, together with its competent medical specialists and staff, the hospital provides patients with a good place for healing and recuperating.
BRIEF HISTORY
TMC started as an out-patient clinic on November 1, 2005 with the name Tagaytay Hospital Systems, Inc. Its incorporators composed of doctors, managers, and hospital administrators changed its company name to Tagaytay Hospital and Medical Center, which was then used when the hospital started its operations on May 15, 2009. To establish its link to a chain of hospitals also owned by the incorporators, its name was changed to Unihealth-Tagaytay Hospital and Medical Center, Inc. In 2013, the hospital became majority owned by Mount Grace Hospitals, Inc. (MGHI), a network of hospitals that focuses on improving and upgrading hospital facilities, enhancing operating efficiency, delivering quality service and organizational culture-building. Thus, the hospital’s name was changed to Tagaytay Medical Center. |

Patients in the Hemodialysis Unit are provided with Renal Rehabilitation in partnership with the hospital’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. It is an intervention designed to optimize the physical, psychological, and social functioning of a renal patient. TMC is the second hospital in the country to offer Renal Rehabilitation. What is Hemodialysis? Hemodialysis is the most common type of dialysis. It is a life sustaining treatment that is offered to patients when the kidneys are too damaged to continue to work properly. It is also a therapy that filters waste, removes extra fluid and balances electrolytes of the body. How does hemodialysis work? In hemodialysis, a dialysis machine and a special filter called an artificial kidney, or a dialyzer, are used to clean your blood. To get your blood into the dialyzer, the doctor needs to make an access, into your blood vessels. This is done with minor surgery, usually to your arm. What is the advantage of having your hemodialysis in a hospital than in a stand-alone clinic? The advantage of having your dialysis in a hospital is that trained professionals are with you all the times. Patients feel safe in the knowledge that the responsibility of their dialysis is undertaken by trained doctors and nursing staff.
