WHERE TO GO IN TAGAYTAY MAP

Due to unquestionably tiring and toxic life in a highly-urbanized city like Metro Manila, many people are looking for escapes. You cannot blame them. They need to breathe once in a while, spend quality time with family, be oblivious of the heavy traffic of the Metro and forget the pressure and demands of their bosses even for a while. Tagaytay is never crossed out in the list of the ideal escapes of the Manileños because of its proximity advantage. Again, why ideal? It’s just around a two-hour drive from Manila and you can start a relaxing stay-cation, retreat, food trip on various emerging restaurants and hangouts, and the undisputed scenic view of lake from a ridge. Tagaytay, despite a common place for getaway, has continued to improve and maintained its image of a peaceful haven.

Tagaytay is never crossed out in the list of the ideal escapes of the Manileñas because of its proximity advantage. Again, why ideal? It’s just around a two-hour drive from the metro and you can finally start another relaxing stay-cation, retreat, food trip on various emerging restaurants and hangouts, and the undisputed scenic view of lake from a ridge. Tagaytay, despite a common place for getaway, has continued to improve and maintained its image of a peaceful haven.

Planning for your first time or rather next visit to Tagaytay? Then here’s a comprehensive guide is especially made for a visitor-traveler like you.

If You are Traveling through a Public Transportation

From Metro Manila Via Bus and Jeepney

Particularly for the backpackers who prefer public transportation, taking a bus bound for Tagaytay is the cheapest and most practical way. You may tell the driver to drop you off at Tagaytay Rotunda and afterwards, you can ride jeepneys or tricycle from there to your desired destination. Arriving in Tagaytay Rotunda, the popular landmarks to expect are Ninoy Aquino statue, Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and 7-Eleven store, all of which can easily be noticed. You can also alight at the Olivarez terminal which is a walking distance to Rotunda. The whole trip takes up to 2 and a half hours depending on the place of your origin. Commute cost is more or less PHP80.00.
from pasay
There are two bus terminals found near the LRT Gil Puyat Station (Buendia) which offer trips going to Tagaytay. You can choose from buses going to Nasugbu, Balayan and Lemery such as DLTB and Jam Transit as this routes are via Tagaytay.

Bus trips with route passing Tagaytay Rotunda as well can be found at the MMDA Southwest Integrated Bus Terminal in Uniwide Coastal Mall. Look for those buses with signed board “Lemery, Lian, Nasugbu or Calatagan"  (i.e. DLTB Co., Erjohn Almark, and San Agustin).
from northern part of Metro Manila
Jasper Jean bus has a route from Navotas terminal, Caloocan City or Quezon City to Pala-pala, Dasmarinas in Cavite route via EDSA. This bus usually collects passengers in Ortigas and on or before approaching Starmall in EDSA.You need to alight in Dasmarinas and then transfer to a jeepney going to Mendez town in Cavite which passes by Tagaytay.
from manila airport
(Ninoy Aquino international Airport)
The ultimate goal is to get to Uniwide Coastal where buses are stationed and bound for Tagaytay.

If you are arriving at NAIA Terminal 1 or NAIA Terminal 2, go outside and choose the bus going to Epifanio De Los Santos Avenue (EDSA) where you need to alight at the Uniwide Coastal Mall. On the other hand, exit the gate across Andrews Avenue if coming from NAIA Terminal 3; from there, find jeepneys with signboard Pasay Taft Rotonda You can easily find Rotonda with McDonalds and Sogo Hotel as landmarks. Next, take the bus labeled MIA going to to Uniwide Coastal Mall.  Lastly, just take a taxi if arriving at Terminal 4 to the target bus terminal going to Tagaytay.

From Metro Manila
(Via van or shuttle)
Commuting conveniently can be achieved by preferring to take shuttles but definitely can cost you even more. The operators and drivers of shuttle provide a direct trip to Batangas areas and require its passenger to pay in full regardless of the destination and where fare ranges from PHP180.00 to 200.00. Apart from that, the trip can also save a lot of time.

Below are the places in Metro Manila where you can find a terminal for vans or shuttles with trips Nasugbu, Lemery or Balayan wherein you can just alight at Tagaytay Rotunda.
  • Starmall EDSA, Mandaluyong – located at the corner of EDSA and Shaw Boulevard; closes MRT station is the Shaw Boulevard Startion

from laguna
(Via Van or shuttle)
If you’re coming from Laguna such as Calamba and Sta.Rosa, then you can follow these directions, respectively: (1) you can ride the van at either the Calamba Central Termina or at the public market near Waltermart Calamba; (2) take a regular jeepney ride to Balibago complex in Sta. Rosa then transfer to Tagaytay-bound jeepneys. Another alternative ride is a jeepney from Balibago transport terminal to Tagaytay Public Market route.

If you are Driving through a Private Car, Van or Taxi Cab

There are two options when you decide to drive in your next Tagaytay getaway: (1) via the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) or: (2) via Aguinaldo Hi-way passing through various towns/cities in Cavite (i,e, Bacoor, Imus, Dasmarinas and Silang. The entire trip via private car is faster as you can save around 30 minutes to 1 hour if compared to pure commute.
private vehicles
Route No. 1 (Via SLEX):

Basically, there are many options when driving through the long road of SLEX. The most common and probably the easiest way is the drive via SLEX, Sta. Rosa Exit in particular. This route heads directly to Tagaytay Public Market. Upon reaching the market, right turn leads to the Tagaytay city proper and as well as Nasugbu road. Otherwise, left turn makes you reach Picnic Grove Park and People's Park in the Sky.

Another alternative road which also passes through the Sta-Rosa-Tagaytay National Road is the SLEX Eton Exit, passing by Eton City, is highly-recommended during weekends to beat the heavy traffic going to the south. Some other SLEX options are the SLEX Greenfields Exit and the Southwoods Exit (leading to Governor’s drive from Carmona to Dasmarinas which are advisable to avoid slow traffic scene on Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay National Road.

Route No. 2 (Via Emilio Aguinaldo Highway):

Driving through Aguinaldo Highway passing through Baclaran, Coastal Road and various cities in Cavite, similar to what the public transportations normally use, is another alternative way to reach Tagaytay. However, just to give everybody a heads up, heavy traffic is expected in this route, hence not advisable to take. Get ready when you pass by Silang as Tagaytay comes next after the said town.

Other Alternative Suggestions:

Tagaytay can also be accessible via Daang Hari that passes by various Cavite Areas.  There is also a way out from Sto. Tomas, Batangas via StarToll way leading to Lipa City; that is, taking Sambat exit and national road toTalisay heading to  Ligaya Drive

rent a car or
get a taxi cab
You may opt to rent a car/taxi for a complete convenience. Browse the internet or phone them! You can actually find a great deal. Normal price is at Php2,000.00 or up. It also depends on the auto model that is being hired. And try to negotiate, too! Who knows you can avail them for a lower rate. You can also hail a taxi cab by either charging a fixed rate or a metered-base arrangement with considerations on who is to be charged on the toll fees.

Try to use the Grab application on your smartphone with their GrabCar Sedan, 6-seater and Premium models. You negotiate and discuss well with the driver on how much it would be for a round trip. Normally, a one-way trip can cost PHP 2,000 or above.
